Hi guys, last time we learned how to design a sleek content box, in this tutorial I will be teaching you how to create a cool logo for your website with just a few effects.
Step 1: New Document
Alright, the first step, of coarse, is to open a new document 500×500 pixels with a white background.
Step 2: Text
Now that we have a canvas to work with, grab the horizontal text tool. Set the font size to 130pt, and the color to black. Now find a thick/solid cool looking font, we choose “bauhaus 93′”. Type out your websites initials in all caps, in our case its “LT”.
Step 3: Rasterize
Now that we’ve decided on a font, move each letter to a separate text box, and Rasterize both of them. To rasterize a layer simply go to “layer > rasterize >type” or right click on the layer and go to rasterize.
Step 4: Blending and Merging
Move the letters together so there blended together. Once it looks good merge the two layers. To merge two layers simply select the top one and press CTRL+E, or you can “right click>merge down”
Step 5: Clean It Up
We have the layers merged together, but theres still that gap where the letters aren’t touching. Lets fix this. Zoom into 600% and grab the pencil tool. On the same layer fill in the gab to make it match.
Step 6: Blending Options
You can zoom back out now. Now open up blending options (layer>layer style>blending options) and apply the following effects. (All the gradients are in the download section below.)
Step 7: 3D (Repeat this step 7x)
Make a duplicate of the top layer (ctrl+j), now move it down 1px and to the right 1px (use the arrow keys to do this). Repeat this 7 times using the newest layer each time.
Step 8: Merge
Click the little eyeball next to the white background layer to make it invisible. Now select the top layer and press “CTRL+SHIFT+E” this will merge all the layers. You can recheck the eyeball now.
Step 9: Finishing Up
Add a little whet brushing to the Top left and your done! heres how mine turned out.
